Kopua

On July 20, 2015, Dom Steele Hartmann, Abbot of Tarrawarra and Father Immediate Delegate of Kopua, appointed Brother John Pettite as Superior ad nutum of the Community.

Brother John was born in 1951, entered Kopua in 2003 and made solemn profession in 2011. At the time of his nomination, Brother John Pettite was Prior of the Community and will be ordained priest August 15, 2015.

made solemn profession at the monastery of Ampibanjinana (Madagascar).

Sister Josiane was born in 1983 in Fianarantsoa (Madagascar).

She entered Ampibanjinana in 2009 and made first profession in 2012.

   

Sobrado

Friday, 17 July 2015

Recently, UNESCO declared the Monastery of Sobrado a “World Heritage Site” as a monument directly connected to the Northern Route of El Camino de Santiago (the pilgrimage route of St. James).
This is a cause for joy for the Community of Sobrado and also for the whole Order.

She entered Nishinomiya in 2007 and made first profession in 2012.

was ordained a priest at the monastery of Sta. María de los Mártires

de San Pedro de Cardeña (Burgos) Spain

Father José Luis was born in 1971 in Burgos.

He entered Cardeña in 1993 and made his solemn profession in 1998;

he was the delegate of the RE in the last General Chapter

and also one of the sacristans.

   

Phare

On June 26, 2015, the Community of O. L. of Phare (diocese of Sapporo, Japan) elected as abbot, for a six year term, Dom Aloysius Yokouchi Hiroshi.

Dom Aloysius was born in 1968 and entered Phare in 2002. He made solemn profession in 2007 and was ordained a priest in 2014. At the time of his appointment he was the Prior of Phare.

New Clairvaux - Vina

In order to commemorate the Nonacentenary of the founding of Clairvaux abbey in 1115, Cistercian monks and nuns of both the Strict Observance and the Order of Citeaux as well as lay Cistercian scholars and a Benedictine monk-scholar on Thomas Merton were invited to a symposium that started June 15th until the 20th, 2015. We closed the symposium with a special Vespers and banquet which included the Bishop of the Sacramento diocese.

On 16 June 2015, at the end of his first abbatial mandate, Dom Richard Purcell was re-elected as Abbot of Roscrea (Ireland) for another six year term. The election was confirmed by the Abbot General and Dom Richard was installed the same day.
