Single Chapter

Tuesday, 12 August 2014

On September 14th 2011, during his visit to the General Chapter of 2011 in Assisi, the Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CIVCSVA), Archbishop João Bráz de Aviz, presented to our Abbot General, Dom Eamon Fitzgerald, the document internal to the Congregation concerning the request we had made to change our Constitutions and to function as a Single Chapter. The document accepted the request for a Single Chapter and this became effective from September 14th 2011.

After that it was necessary to present to the Congregation those elements of our Constitutions affected by the new organisation of our Chapter, and to wait for the approval of the amendments.

On July 24th 2014, the Procurator General of our Order, Dom Timothy Kelly, was able to collect from the office of the CIVCSVA the official decree dated June 3rd 2014 (Prot. n° T34-1/2006) approving the modifications made to our Constitutions.

The new text of the Constitutions will be available to the capitulants in September, at the General Chapter in Assisi.
