MEETING OF LAY ASSOCIATES
April 24-30, 2002

The Lay Cistercian community of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, USA, extends an invitation to all Lay Cistercians to attend the Second International Encounter that will take place next year at Conyers, outside Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. It will begin with the arrival of the delegates on April 24, 2002, and will end with their departure on April 30. Also invited are the monk or nun Spiritual Directors of the associating monastery.
The Abbot General, Dom Bernardo Olivera, plans to be present and has suggested the following topics for the meeting, which form part of a larger agenda:

  • Establishing links among the different Lay Cistercian communities by finding the appropriate way of communication among them.

  • Finding the points they have in common.

  • Sharing the statutes or guidelines of those communities that already have them.

This notice is an invitation and also a call for suggestions. It is directed to all Lay Cistercian communities around the world. Their response and suggestions would be appreciated, especially if they could arrive not later than May 20, 2001, because the capacity of the Conyers Guest House is limited and the logistics of the Encounter must be arranged.
Responses should be sent by e-mail, fax or letter to:
