Dom Joseph Boyle, Abbot of Snowmass (Archdiocese of Denver – USA) since 1985, having reached the age of retirement mentioned in ST 40.A of the Constitutions, presented his resignation to the Abbot General. With the consent of his Council, the Abbot General accepted the resignation which became effective on August 21, 2016.
On September 29, 2016, after the conventual chapter had voted for an undetermined abbatial mandate, an election was held in which Dom Joseph, who is 75 years of age, was postulated as abbot of Snowmass.
The Abbot General confirmed the election, in accordance with Statute 40. A bis of the Constitutions. (See vote 49 of the Acts of the General Chapter of 2014).

made solemn profession
at the monastery of Port-du-Salut (France).
Brother Marie-Joseph was born in 1954 in Cholon (Vietnam).
He entered Port-du-Salut in 2010 and made first profession in 2012.
September 24, 2016: Brother Tomás Ringwood was born in 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri (USA). He entered Spencer in 1952 and made his solemn profession in 1957. Brother was a founder of Azul in 1958. He was 89 years old and had been in monastic vows for 61 years when the Lord called him.
Septembre 25, 2016: Father Jacques Bernier was born in 1927 in Bruxelles (Belgium). He entered Rochefort in 1969, made his solemn profession in 1975 and was ordained a priest in 1977. Father was 89 years old, had been in monastic vows for 44 years and 39 years a priest when the Lord called him.

September 7, 2016: Brother Martin Charles was born in 1934 in Babylon, N.Y. (USA). He entered Conyers in 1951 and made his solemn profession in 1957. He was sent to La Dehesa (Chile) in 1972 and made his stability there in 1974. Brother was 82 years old and had been in monastic vows for 62 years when the Lord called him.
Brother Martin served several times as a translator at the General Chapter.
On September 13, 2016 the eighth General Chapter of the Cistercian Congregation of St. Bernard (CSSB – Las Huelgas) was opened and presided by Mother Angelines de Frutos, Abbess President of the Congregation, in the presence of Dom Eamon Fitzgerald, Abbot General of OCSO. It is being held in Las Huelgas until September 23, 2016.

Sr. Dinah was born in 1989
in Polomolok (South Cotabato, Philippines).
She entered Matutum in 2010
and made first profession in 2013.
September 8, 2016: Brother Jaime Bandres Aisa was born in 1933 in Caldearenas, Huesca (Spain). He entered Huerta in 1991 and made his solemn profession in 1997. Brother was 82 years old and had been in monastic vows for 22 years when the Lord called him.
September 2, 2016: Dom Amandus Prick was born in 1917 in Maastricht (The Netherlands). He entered Tegelen in 1938, made his solemn profession in 1943 and was ordained a priest in 1945. Dom Amandus was Abbot of Tegelen from 1956 until the closure of the monastery in 2002. He was 99 years old, had been in monastic vows for 76 years and 71 years a priest when the Lord called him.

August 28, 2016: Sister Claire Tourrette was born in 1924 in Saint-Flour (France). She entered Bonneval in 1956 and made her solemn profession in 1962. Sister was 92 years old and had been in monastic vows for 57 years when the Lord called her.
On May 12, 2016, Dom Steele Hartmann, Abbot of Tarrawarra and Father Immediate Delegate of Kopua, appointed Father Niko Verkley as Superior ad nutum of the Community.
Dom Niko was born in 1938 in La Haye (The Netherlands) and entered Kopua in 1966. He made his solemn profession in 1971 and was ordained priest in 1974. At the time of his appointment he was Novice Master.
